Stratsims HC Platform Editor

Platform Editor

A desktop editor for the Harpoon Classic platform database: the 16 annexes that become commondb.res.

If you maintain a Harpoon Classic battleset, a mod, or the stock database itself, you already know the shape of the problem: ships, subs, planes, weapons, sensors and the rest, each keyed by an id, cross-referencing each other in ways a spreadsheet cannot check for you. The Platform Editor opens a commondb.res (or a project file it saved earlier), lets you find and edit any record, and exports a commondb.res the game will load. It refuses to write one it would reject.

It is a native desktop program for Windows and Linux, and it ships no game content of its own: you bring the database. It reads databases of every generation, including the database inside a classic battleset, and writes the current format back out (Database versions and battlesets).

What this site covers

Getting started

Open a database, find a record, make an edit, export a .res.

Releases and release notes

What a release actually is, when exporting makes one real, and how to turn a stretch of changes into a post.

Settings

A shortcut per database, how updates arrive, and what every preference in the Settings dialog actually changes.

Database versions and battlesets

Reading structure versions 1 to 6, exporting v6 or v5, the battleset a database is for, and writing it into a battleset file.

Tools

Find, Check, Unused, Duplicates, Compare, replacing references across a selection, history and revert, and record packages: the power-user surface.

Field reference

Every field in all 16 annexes: what it means, what it stores, and what limits apply to it.

Coded values

The fixed lists behind coded fields: armor, ship form, propulsion, and the rest.

Release notes

What changed in each release, newest first — what the update banner points to.
